Mississauga, February 26, (CINEWS): Each year the Horatio Alger Association of Canada disburses 85 post-secondary scholarships to exceptional and highly deserving students across the country. This year two Peel students were recipients of these scholarships.
Nazrin Azeez, a Grade 12 student at Mississauga’s Glenforest Secondary School, was among five national recipients who have won $10,000 Horatio Alger National Entrepreneurial Scholarships for demonstrating a desire and ability to be entrepreneurial in a chosen field.
Azeez wants to study medicine to become a doctor and open up her own clinic.
Maddy Crawford, a Grade 12 student of Brampton’s David Suzuki Secondary School was the other.
Funds can be used for both post-secondary vocational or university studies.
Prem Watsa is the president of the Horatio Alger Association which has to sift through thousands of applicants that flood in from deserving students and whittling down the candidates is hard given the sheer number of deserving candidates and the limited number of scholarships.
