Uber driver wanted for sexual assault surrenders

Amritpal Singh

Toronto, October 16 (CINEWS): On Thanksgiving Monday, Amritpal Singh, the 24-year-old Scarborough-based Uber driver walked into Toronto’s 32 Division where he surrendered himself. He has now been charged with Forcible Confinement and Sexual Assault.
Back on September 15th, a young woman entered his Uber vehicle in the Yonge Street/Eglinton Avenue. Amritpal Singh allegedly drove her home in the Lawrence Avenue West/Avenue Road area. Enroute he went beyond his call of duty and made a poor decision by assaulting her in his vehicle.
A sexual assault is any form of unwanted sexual contact. It includes, but is not limited to, kissing, grabbing, oral sex and penetration.
Following a complaint against the driver, police were on alert looking for the described driver. Uber drivers are angry with drivers like this whom they say give the service a bad name and gives its critics yet another reason to attack them.
