Van Gaal calls on Man Utd to regain `fear` factor

London, Feb.22 (ANI): Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has admitted that his side have lost their ‘fear’ factor, calling on the Old Trafford club to start winning games consistently in order to turn things around for themselves.

“When you see the last two games, it may be like that. But then we have to make them fear us again. We lost the first match in the Premier League also, against Swansea City, when I first came here. But then still we had a very good home record last season – and we can do that again. It’s a question of winning matches in a row,” the 64-year-old was quoted as saying by goal.com.

Van Gaal’s job has been under scrutiny following his side’s repeated poor performances in the Premier League, with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho reportedly in talks to replace him at the Old Trafford.

United’s recent 2-1 defeat at the hands of Danish club Midtjylland in the first-leg of their last-32 in Europa League has put further misery on Van Gaal.

Ahead of his side’s FA Cup fifth-round clash against Shrewsbury Town, the Dutchman insisted that United could not afford to lose any more games.

Van Gaal said that if his side managed to win against Shrewsbury, then they would have a great chance of winning the FA Cup.

“On Monday we have to win, and when we win we’re in the next round and capable of winning the FA Cup,” he said.

United, who are currently fifth in Premier League table, will play against Shrewsbury at New Meadow on Tuesday. (ANI)
