Veena Malik, whose appearance in the Indian TV show “Bigg Boss” in 2011 sparked a row in Pakistan, is said to be devoting herself to the study of Islam. She made her film debut in 2000 with Sajjad Gul’s Tere Pyar Mein.
The Dawn newspaper of Karachi reported that she will be studying Islam under the guidance of Mufti Naeem of madrassah Jamia Binoria and will also ensure that her children received proper Islamic education.
Veena, who is 32 years old, told a press conference in Karachi: “In my two years in America, I read a lot of literature recommended by Junaid Jamshed sahib. My life was turned upside down a while ago and my elders cautioned that it’s very hard to stay on the right path in times like this.”
The one-time model and actress went on to add: “Indeed, in the past three years, I have been tempted to stray several times. Thankfully, I have had Mufti Naeem, Maulana Tariq Jamil and Junaid Jamshed sahib to guide me.”
Veena also attracted widespread criticism when she appeared topless on the cover of Indian magazine sporting an ‘ISI’ tattoo on her arm.
Veena dropped out from view a few years ago and is now mother of two children, Amal Asad Khan and Abram Khan Khattak. Her husband is Asad Bashir Khan. – CINEWS
