Bali (Indonesia), Nov.3 (ANI): Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari arrived in Bali this afternoon after completing a two-and-a-half-day visit to Indonesian capital Jakarta.
He was received by the Governor of Bali, Dr. Made Mangku Pastika and senior local administration officials.
During his overnight stay in Bali, the Vice President will be meeting with the Governor of Bali this evening; and on November 4, he will visit and deliver a lecture at the Udayana University. He will also meet the Rector of the University, Professor Dr. Ketut Suastika.
Earlier in the day, the vice president rounded off his two-and-a-half day visit to Jakarta with a visit to the Parliament of Indonesia, where he had meetings with the Speaker of the MPR a.k.a. the People’s Consultative Assembly Zulkifli Hasan and the Speaker of the DPD a.k.a. the Regional Representative Council Irman Gusman.
He also addressed the Indonesia-India Business Forum at the Shangrila Hotel in the city, where he said that while India’s bilateral trade and commercial ties with Indonesia were progressing along expected lines, there was a need to correct the low level of Indonesian investment in India.
He also had one-to-one and delegation-level talks with his Indonesian counterpart Jusuf Kala, during which both sides inked two agreements — one on cultural exchange and the other on cooperation in the energy sector.
The Vice President also called on the Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the latter’s official residence in Jakarta and received a visit from former president and chairperson of the ruling PDI-P Megawati Soekarnoputri.
He later attended and addressed an event hosted jointly by the Indian Embassy and the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI). (ANI)
