Sonakshi…Look what a dangerous place the world has become!

Speaking about her upcoming action film Akira, Sonakshi Sinha says she is  facing criticism for her choice of films adding that she really worked hard for Akira.

“When I was offered the role, I knew that I had to be well-prepared for it. I started training two months before the film and continued to do so even during the filming. All the training came in handy in getting the body language of the character right and for the required action sequences”.

“I knew how to kick and punch, and as the preparation continued, my kicks got higher and punches swifter. It was exciting that AR Murugadoss (director), who has worked with some of the biggest stars of our country, had decided to make a woman-centric film, that too an action one”.

She thinks it is essential for girls to have a basic knowledge of self-defence considering what a dangerous place the world has become.

Sonakshi says her  background in sports helped her achieve physical fitness required for the character. “I was a part of the national level selection for volleyball. Gradually I left sports behind and I developed other interests, like fashion designing and  acting”.

Asked about the song that she sings for the film, the actress says “I enjoyed singing when I was a child and always wanted to do it even though I was never trained in it. That’s why I sang Rajj rajj ke for Akira. Rajj rajj… is moody and grungy. I love the raw feeling of this song. I was shooting the music video and the producer team, Fox Star, asked if I would like to sing it. Next thing I know, I was at Vishal-Shekhar’s studio and I recorded it in half an hour”

Referring to criticisms against her for acting in (hero-oriented) films during early years she said she was capitalising on that. “But, today, I am known because of those films. I have no regrets and I have learnt everything about acting from those films”. – CINEWS
