Wanted Uttar Pradesh criminal held in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) A 45-year-old wanted criminal of Uttar Pradesh was arrested here for his involvement in more than 38 cases, police said on Tuesday.

A resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, Satender Kumar was absconding for the last three-four years, and was arrested at Anand Vihar Bus Terminal in east Delhi last week.

“He is wanted in two cases of murder and one case of extortion in Muzaffarnagar. A cash reward of Rs.12,000 was declared on his arrest by Uttar Pradesh Police,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav said.

He is also involved in 38 other criminal cases, including 14 murders and cases of attempt to murder, rioting, robbery, kidnapping for ransom and Arms Act, Yadav said.

The official said that Kumar was a supplier of sophisticated weapons like AK-47.

Yadav said that Kumar was arrested in 2003 and remained in custody till 2009.

“After coming out of jail, he started his criminal activities again, and in 2012 he along with his associates committed a murder. He was absconding since then,” the official said.
