New Delhi, April 3 (ANI): The Guest Teacher Association on Sunday morning staged a protest outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence over various demands, particularly that of making them permanent.
One of the members of the association, Anuj Kumar, told ANI that they were protesting because the Delhi Government did not fulfill their promises.
“They promised us that the first thing they would do when do will come to power was to make guest teachers permanent. But they didn’t do so. The guest teachers are provided with a meagre amount of Rs. 700, 800 and 900 per day.”
“We have all the qualifications and the degrees. We are a bunch of qualified youth. Now they are telling us that they would make us permanent through DSSB. Around 80 percent of the guest teachers would be out of the competition because of the age and under preparation,” he added.
He asserted that the Kejriwal Government should provide them salaries according to the experience of the teachers and make them permanent.
One of the other protesting teacher said that all they want was to fix them as permanent teachers as it was happening in other states as well.
Teachers employed on a contractual basis in MCD schools have been staging protest over their demand for permanent employment and release of more funds for timely payment of salaries. (ANI)
