London, Feb.15 (ANI): Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on match-winning substitutes Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck for reviving his side’s chances of claiming the Premier League title.
Arsenal claimed a 2-1 win over surprise league leaders Leicester City to reduce the gap between the two sides to two points at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Walcott restored parity for Arsenal in the 70th minute after Jamie Vardy slotted his 19th goal of the season with a hotly-disputed penalty to put Leicester ahead on the stroke of half-time.
Arsenal continued to display relentless performance as Welbeck subsequently scored a header in the stoppage time following a Mesut Ozil’s free-kick on his return after 10 months out with a serious knee injury.
Praising his team’s bench strength, Wenger admitted that a loss against Leicester would have been massive and that it would have been difficult to stage a comeback with three wins if they had lost the game, the Mirror reported.
Arsenal will next play against host Hull in the FA Cup fifth round next Saturday before the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Barcelona at the Emirates the following Tuesday. (ANI)
