London, Dec.23 (ANI): Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has backed Louis Van Gaal, saying that his Manchester United counterpart is getting `disrespectful` treatment at the club.
Van Gaal’s job came under scrutiny following his side 1-2 defeat at home against Norwich City in Premier League.
Wenger said that he had a huge respect for Van Gaal, insisting that the Dutchman had made unbelievable contribution to his club.
“This guy works in football for 30 years and delivers an unbelievable quality of work and it’s disrespectful what’s going on there,” Arsenal manager was quoted as saying by goal.com.
The 66-year-old further asked United not to sack Van Gaal and urged them to give their manager with some more time in order to improve the current situation.
Speaking on the departure of long-term rival Jose Mourinho from Chelsea, Wenger said that he doesn’t want anyone to lose their job.
“I think a lot has been made of it and there’s no need for me to add to it. I don’t want anyone to lose their job.
Earlier,there were ongoing speculation that Mourinho could replace Van Gaal as next United manager.
United have now lost three matches in a row and are currently nine points behind the leaders Leicester City in league standings.
With their first defeat at Old Trafford, United have also slipped out of the top four ahead of their next match against Stoke City on December 26. (ANI)
