New Delhi, Feb.23 (ANI): Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief V. Gopalsamy also known as Vaiko has sought support from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly polls.
Sources in the AAP said that Vaiko met the party’s South India’s in-charge Somnath Bharti on February 12 regarding the same in Chennai.
The AAP leader had later confirmed his meeting with Vaiko but refused to disclose the agenda of the same.
According to sources, Vaiko asked Bharti to extend his party’s support to the MDMK.
The AAP has, however, refused Vaiko’s request.
The Arvind Kejriwal-led party had after a splendid victory in the Delhi assembly polls decided to expand its base in the southern states of the country.
Sources in the AAP said the party is planning to call for a volunteer meeting in Tamil Nadu next month in the presence of Kejriwal. (ANI)
