London, June 30 (ANI): Defending Champion Petra Kvitova began her Wimbledon campaign with a quick and crisp straight-sets win over Dutch player Kiki Bertens.
Defending her title, the Czech second seed opened the second day’s play on Centre Court and won her opening match 6-1 6-0 in 35 minutes.
Jubilant with the victory, Kvitova said that it was a great feeling returning to Wimbledon, adding that she was very nervous but when she was stood on the court and the people started clapping, it gave her confidence, the BBC reported.
The 24-year-old player dropped just one point in serve, with a double fault, in the whole match and will now face Japan’s Kurumi Nara or Magda Linette of Poland in the second round. (ANI)
