Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has messaged all his countrymen on the Independence Day saying that the citizens should pledge India be freed from rape. The 73-year–old Te3n star shared his views on Twitter and posted a still from his upcoming film Pink, which is about three women who are victims of sexual assault.
“Independence Day 15th August pledge… May India be Independent from rape… Bharat aazad ho rape se…,” Bachchan wrote. The actor also re–tweeted his own post about women and asked his followers to always remember it by captioning the message– ‘say it again…‘”
“A woman’s body is not a democracy, it’s a dictatorship, and its about time the dictator took charge,” read the message.
In 2016 the actor will be seen in two films. TE3N where he stars alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan and Pink, directed by Anirrudha Roy Chowdhury, also starring Taapsee Pannu.
The trailer of Pink released recently and it spoke of a rape incident and the women’s agony of facing the society as victims of rape.
Previously Amitabh Bachchan said that the reactions to the trailer of his new film Pink, which features him as a lawyer, have left him anxious and excited. “The overwhelming reactions to the trailer of ‘Pink’ have me both excited and anxious. Anxious because now there is the film to follow and the reactions of that to follow.”
Surprised by some of the comments and messages that have come his way for the Pink trailer, he added: “What is ‘Pink’ is now almost known… But what is the film is unknown and that will be disclosed on September 16.
Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, the film has intrigued audiences with its trailer, particularly the court room scene which is laced with compelling performances. The movie also features Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang. – CINEWS
