Women demand entry in Ahmednagar temple

Ahmednagar, Dec. 21 (ANI): A drama was witnessed when four women tried to climb up the platform of a temple in Ahmednagar city.

The women were restrained from climbing the stairs by police personnel and security guards outside the shrine.

According to tradition, women are not allowed to enter this temple shrine and pay homage directly.

“They have restricted women to enter the temple. They have made a rule to leave women outside. Why shouldn’t women enter the premises of temple? We demand that women should be allowed to enter the temple. If this does not happen, then today only four women have been protesting, but later 400 women would come forward and enter the temple,” said an unidentified Bhu mata brigade official.

A huge number of pilgrims from across the country pay homage at the shrine every year. (ANI)
