The five-day tournament was organized by the Manipur Government and the All Manipur Polo Association.

“Our aim is to build a women’s polo team for India and since Manipur is the birthplace of polo, we have a lot of potential for the women’s team,” said Tansen Konjengbam, Secretary, All Manipur Polo Association.

“Women’s polo is coming up really good in the U.S. and I am happy to see that people have started to play here. I think everyone should be treated equally and women should have as many chances to play as the men do,” said Carly Persano, an American polo player.

Such international events not only promote sportsmanship but also empower women to create a niche for themselves in the field of sport. (ANI)
