Wynne’s trade mission to India generates 150 new jobs

Premier Wynne meets Bollywood star Ranveer Singh (3rd from right) and others in Mumbai

Toronto, February 12 (CINEWS): Here’s what came out at the end of the ten day, 72- member delegation made up the Trade Mission to India- Ontario companies, universities, and colleges signed 65 agreements worth $240 million that should hopefully lead to 150 new jobs in the province!
“We’re looking at a country that over the next two years is going to have 15 per cent growth, so that’s huge opportunity. Any of us back home would die for that, it’s fantastic. But we have to understand that we have to be patient and we have to look at the long-term because there are huge challenges in this country,” said Premier Kathleen Wynne.
Wynne met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi twice, and the chief ministers — the equivalent of provincial premiers — of five states, as well as a slew of federal and state cabinet ministers.
Wynne met with Cyrus Mistry, chair of Tata Group, the huge conglomerate whose holdings include the automakers Jaguar, Land Rover, and Tetley Tea, and Anand Mahindra, chair of Mahindra Group, which makes cars and tractors and recently bought the famed Italian company Pininfarina that designs Ferraris, among other products.
The premier also had a chance to schmooze with Bollywood movie superstar Ranveer Singh, who made a public pitch to Toronto International Film Festival artistic director Cameron Bailey to have one of his movies premiere at TIFF. So does it mean more film festivals like the IFFA coming to Toronto?
Many South Asians would be willing to call the Trade Mission to India a resounding success if we have another IFFA or have the streets of Toronto usurped for regular Bollywood film shootings.
