York Police pilot project on staffing at #3 District in Georgina

York Regional Police  has announced  a pilot project focusing on staffing redeployment in our #3 District Headquaters that will provide an additional police officer and vehicle on patrol within the Town of Georgina.

Effective Monday, June 6, 2016, the York Regional Police #3 District located, at 3527 Baseline Road, will have new hours of operation daily between 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. During these hours the police station will be open to the public.

After hours, member of the public are encouraged to call 9-1-1 in an emergency or call the non-emergency number at 1-866-876-5423 for police assistance. After hours, #3 District is equipped with hands-free direct audio and video system linked to the 9-1-1 call centre to assist anyone attending the District who requires police assistance.  This system is located in the vestibule at the front of the building.

With the successful implementation of the York Regional Police Real Time Operations Centre at York Regional Police Headquaters in Aurora in January 2016 and the improved technology which enables effective monitoring and supervision throughout the region, #3 District is redeploying a front desk operator to the field to augment current deployment.

Following lengthy analysis of patrol staffing across the region, York Regional Police has made significant improvements to frontline patrol resulting in better coverage, better response times, improved supervision and more efficient staffing to match peak workload times.

Services offered at the district location during operational hours remain unchanged. – CINEWS
