Washington DC, Aug 11 (ANI): American actor Zac Efron has been roped in to join Dwayne Johnson for Seth Gordon’s upcoming flick ‘Baywatch,’ which is a big-screen take on the 1990s TV series about California lifeguards.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Paramount film will star the 27-year-old ‘Neighbors’ actor and Johnson, 43, as rival lifeguards in Malibu, who have to put their differences aside to save their beloved beach from an oil tycoon.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the most recent draft for the project, which has finally been ramping up and if all goes well, shooting for the film will start in early 2016.

Efron has just wrapped production on Fox and Chernin Entertainment’s comedy ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’ along with road trip comedy ‘Dirty Grandpa’ and ‘Neighbors 2.’ (ANI)
