‘Zero accident mission’ should be Railways focus: Railway Board chief

New Delhi, Sept. 15 (ANI): Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu met with general managers of all 17railway zones on Tuesday to review safety measures in the awake of recent train accidents.

Placing emphasis on his ‘zero accident mission, Railway Board Chaiman AK Mittal said, “Our system is very old and well-laid down procedures are there. If everything is followed properly, then there will be no unfortunate cases of accidents.”

“The railway minister said the system needs to be improved. Funds were a constraint for that, which he has tried to remove. We are trying to bring some additional capacities in our system,” Mittal added.

Mittal further said that the Prabhu’s emphasis was on the zero accident mission.

“Our goal should always be that there should not be any accident,” he said. (ANI)
