10 years’ imprisonment for man who killed 2-year-old son

A 30-year-old man from the Town of Newmarket has been sentenced following an earlier guilty plea to Manslaughter in connection with the 2015 death of his two-year-old son.

On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, Mario Wint, 30, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Honourable Justice Dwyer.

On Thursday, April 14, 2016, Wint pleaded guilty to Manslaughter relating to the death of his son, Matthias “Ty” Wint.

On Thursday, January 22, 2015, at 2:22 p.m. officers responded to a residence on Longford Drive in Newmarket for an injured person call. Officers arrived on scene and located a two-year-old boy who was not breathing.  The child was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

On Saturday, January 24, 2015, investigators arrested the child’s father in connection with the incident. – CINEWS
