19-year-old charged for collision that claimed the life of a Brampton woman, injured another

Peel police have arrested and charged a 19-year-old motorist for a fatal collision that happened in Brampton last month.

On Sunday, October 22 at 9:29 a.m., a black Lexus sedan was travelling westbound on Queen Street East between Dixie Road and Central Park Drive in Brampton, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed over into the eastbound lanes, colliding with two other vehicles.

A 64-year-old female was fatally killed, and a 54-year-old female received non-life threatening injuries. Both were residents of Brampton.

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, a 19-year-old male, Gurman Cheema of Brampton was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death. He will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on a later date.
