Toronto (Mar 5) – A teenage boy and girl were killed in a fatal collision with an UP Express train Monday night.

Toronto police say they were called to the area of Eglinton Avenue W. and Weston Road around 10 p.m. on Monday, March 4 after receiving reports of someone being struck by a train. On arrival officers found two individuals who were pronounced dead at the scene.

Later at a news conference on Tuesday, police identified the victims as a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl but did not reveal their relationship to one another.

Police said that they are still investigating why the teens were on the tracks.

The train was packed with over 200 people at the time of the incident and investigators urged anyone with information to contact them immediately.

Both Toronto police and Metrolinx which runs the UP Express are urging people to stay away from the tracks and not to cross railway lines.
