Actor John Zderko, of ‘Criminal Minds’ and ‘Mentalist’ dies at 60


Actor John Zderko, who had somewhat of a late blooming acting career died at 60. The actor was seen in shows like ‘The Mentalist’, ‘Criminal Minds’, ‘Bosch: Legacy’ and ‘9-1-1: Lon Star’ passed away due to complications tha arose from his cancer treatment.

This was reported to The Hollywood Reporter by fellow actor and friend of Zderko, Charley Koontz.

Koontz has appeared in shows like ‘CSI: Cyber’ and ‘Community’. In 2022, Zderko has appeared in ‘Breaking’, which was a Bleeker Street release, which also starred Michael K. Williams and John Boyega. The movie debuted at the Sundance Film Festival.

John Zderko was raised in Ohio, Colorado as well as New Jersey, where he attended high school and he also reportedly played on the same basketball team as James Gandolfini.

After his graduation from UC Irvine, Zderko got busy building a successful business career but he also kept taking acting classes on the side at UCLA. Eventually, he quit his full-time job and started his acting career in theatre at West Broadway in Santa Monica. His play was directed by writer-director Dianne Name.

Zderko made his first screen appearance in the year 2005. Among his many performances is his appearance in the 2014 movie ‘Apparitional’. In the horror movie, Zderko’s performance stood out as he was a man who gets attacked by a ghost and then the ghost takes over his body.

John Zderko is survived by his sister Karen, his nephews Jeff and Jason and his brother-in-law Steve.
