Effective May 12, the per trip Brampton Transit adult Presto e-Purse fare jumped from $3 to $3.10, while the cost of a weekly pass jumped from $33 to $34. A monthly Presto adult pass goes up by $4 increase making it $128.
According to city staff, the fare increases will generate an additional $1.1 million in revenue. The city said the money will be used to add five new 60-foot and seven 40-foot buses to the fleet, which is expected add 81,000 service hours in 2019.
Cash fares, as well as child, youth and senior fares are not affected and will remain at current rates.
