Air Canada has updated its schedule to India following the continued airspace restrictions in the area of Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL).

From June 15 to July 14, 2019, Air Canada will temporarily suspend its Toronto-Delhi flights. Air Canada’s Vancouver-Delhi flights will continue to operate daily as scheduled.

“We are very committed to the India market, and we remain in close contact with various international authorities. Since the airspace restrictions impacting Indira Gandhi International Airport were enacted, Air Canada has undertaken several operational initiatives to continue operating our flights to and from India. The complexities from the ongoing airspace restrictions have resulted in longer routings requiring enroute fueling stops, crew changes and implementing aircraft weight restrictions affecting passengers and cargo which make the Delhi-Toronto non-stop flight unfeasible to continue at this time. As a result of these new constraints, we have made an operational decision to temporarily suspend our Toronto-Delhi flights for one month,” said John MacLeod, Vice President, Global Sales and Alliances at Air Canada.

“Customers who currently have a reservation for flights during this period, rest assured that we will be reaching out to you to offer other travel options, including rebooking on alternate flights or a full refund. Customers who have booked flights through travel agents will be contacted directly by their travel agents to facilitate these options.

“We plan to resume the Toronto-Delhi route as soon as it is operationally feasible to do so. It is important to note that Air Canada’s daily Vancouver-Delhi-Vancouver flights continue to operate non-stop as scheduled as the routings for these flights are entirely different from the Delhi – Toronto routing and are not affected to the same degree.” -CINEWS
