Akshay Kumar takes a dip in the holy Ganges ahead of ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ release

Akshay Kumar, Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi (director of ‘Samrat Prithviraj‘) and Manushi Chhillar have taken on a spiritual tour ahead of the release of ‘Samrat Prithviraj’.

The trio visited Varanasi, where they performed Ganga Puja along with Samrat Prithviraj’s flag.

For the unversed, the upcoming period drama encapsulates the life and achievements of India’s brave and fearless warrior Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan who valiantly fought a battle against a merciless invader way back in the 12th century.

As per reports, following the Ganga Puja in Varanasi, the trio will head to Gujarat to visit the Somnath Temple. The team is apparently taking Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s flag to important cities of India to honour and pay tribute to mighty emperor and his valour.

This movie is a first of sorts for Akshay Kumar who recently completed three decades in Indian Entertainment industry. But this would be the first time he plays a historical character.

It was reported that after they offered their prayers, Akshay Kumar took a dip in the holy water of the Ganges as well.

Speaking about their spiritual sojourn ahead of the release of the movie, director Chandraprakash said, “Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan gave his life fighting for Bharat Mata’s freedom. He defended India against Mohammad of Ghor, the merciless invader who wanted to plunder our country. Our film chronicles Samrat Prithviraj’s life and his contribution to our nation’s history. We have now sought blessings by performing the Ganga puja in Varanasi with his flag. We are now heading to the Somnath Temple with the holy water of Ganga to perform another puja with Samrat Prithviraj’s flag there.”

‘Samrat Prithviraj’ is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 3, 2022 in Hindi, Telugu as well as Tamil languages.
