At a packed rally last Friday, PC leader Doug Ford officially confirmed and introduced his candidates for all five ridings in Brampton.

The party’s Brampton candidates for the upcoming June 7 election are: Prabmeet Sarkaria (Brampton South), Harjit Jaswal (Brampton Center), Simmer Sandhu (Brampton East), Amarjot Singh Sandhu (Brampton West) and Ripudaman Dhillon (Brampton North).

The event, dubbed a “Rally for a Better Ontario,” was held at the Dreams Convention Centre in Brampton and attended by Ford and all five candidates.

“What a crowd in Brampton tonight! We have a great group of PC candidates ready to work for you. Thanks for coming out to hear our plan for the people. #onpoli #pcpo #fordnation #brampton,” tweeted Ford following the event.

Dhillon’s candidacy was the last candidate to be announced at the event.

“I congratulate Ripudaman Dhillon on his nomination as the Ontario PC Party Candidate for Brampton North. Ripudaman is a welcomed addition to our strong and diverse PC team,” said Ford in a statement.

Brampton Centre was the same riding Toronto councillor Giorgio Mammoliti was looking at but following a controversy and uproar from local Bramptonites who were not impressed with a candidate being parachuted into their riding, the Ford ally eventually decided to stick with municipal politics.

Jaswal was named the candidate in Brampton Centre at the end of April, after popular PC Party member Nick Gahunia saw his campaign for that riding’s nomination shut down before the riding vote.

Many of the provincial elections in Brampton, in particular, will be a popularity contest between various factions of community voters. All parties have nominated community leaders who are mostly rookie politicians who are unknown to most other Bramptonians and it remains to be seen how well these candidates from all political parties will do in their outreach efforts to connect with non-South-Asian Brampton residents who are quite unfamiliar with most of these candidates. -CINEWS

  1. This is great Team in Brampton PC party of Ontario. Harjit Jaswal is most popular and experienced community leader/politician out of this 5 candidates from Brampton Centre. Mr. Jaswal is deserving Ministerial position if PC party wins the election. He has more than 15 years relationship with party. There will be very tight situation in Brampton East, Because All of three candidates has back up form party or communities. Brampton south will remain undecided till last week. Brampton North figure cross. Brampton west need to work hard.
All the best to all candidates!
