Arshad Warsi says ABCL ignored him after launching him

Arshad Warsi became a household name as Circuit from the ‘Munnabhai’ movies. He is well known for his impeccable comic timings and his talent as a character actor in supporting roles is well established.

Perhaps because of this, many forget that Arshad Warsi actually debuted as a lead hero in ’Tere Mere Sapne’.

‘Tere Mere Sapne’ was produced by Amitabh Bachchan Corporation (ABC) Limited and while it wasn’t a blockbuster hit, it could be considered a hit as it did above average business at the box office.

However, at a recent press conference with the ‘Bachchan Pandey‘ team, Arshad Warsi, who is also a member of the cast, made this revelation.

During the press conference, where all the stars of the ‘Bachchan Pandey’ cast – Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Arshad Warsi and Jacqueline Fernandez were present, one journalist asked the cast members who their godfathers were in the industry.

The reason for the question was likely because in ‘Bachchan Pandey’ movie, Akshay Kumar has a line that goes: “Mujhe bhai nahi, godfather bolte hain.” (They call me Godfather not big brother)

Surprisingly Arshad took the mic and promptly said, Joy Augustine (director of ‘Tere Mere Sapne’) and ABC Limited were his godfathers in the industry as they were the ones who launched him. He immediately added that though they launched him they did not support him after the debut. Awkward!!

While the media was still processing this, Arshad coolly passed on the mic to his co-star Jacqueline Fernandez making it clear that he wasn’t going to say anymore on the subject.

In the same press conference, Akshay Kumar was asked about his fight with Kapil Sharma and the actor promptly refuted all claims and said that all is well with him and Kapil.

‘Bachchan Pandey’ is slated to release on March 18, as a grand release for the festival of Holi.
