Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest movie ‘Anek’ was all set to release in theatres on May 13, 2022. However, the release of the movie has been postponed by two weeks and now it will be released in cinemas on May 27, 2022 instead. The postponement is likely due to the fact that May 13 is the day when Ranveer Singh’s ‘Jayantibhai Jordaar’ is also releasing.
The makers of ‘Anek’ clearly did not want to clash with a YRF release which starred the audience pulling top Bollywood star Ranveer Singh in the lead.
Ayushmann is reuniting with his ‘Article 15’ director Anubhav Sinha for this movie and the movie has been produced by ‘Thappad’ producer Bhushan Kumar.
The movie reportedly will be touching upon a subject that has up to now been left untouched by filmmakers in India. The movie has been shot in picturesque locations of North Eastern parts of India and Anubhav Sinha has called this his ‘most ambitious project’ till date.
Anubhav Sinha has carved a niche for himself in the industry as a filmmaker who chooses hard hitting stories of grit and from the little that is known, this movie will be adding to this repertoire of content rich filmmaking.
While the makers of the movie have said that the subject of the movie is promising they have kept the actual details under wrap, however, it is known, that ‘Anek’ is Sinha’s most expensive project so far.
The movie has almost exclusively been shot in the difficult and tricky terrains of Nort East India. Ayushmann Khurrana plays the lead role of Joshua in the movie and he had recently shared a snazzy picture of his look from the movie that got fans even more curious about the film.
Producer Bhushan Kumar has often collaborated with Anubhav Sinha because he said he believes in backing content-heavy, strong and unique screenplays.
‘Anek’ is being jointly produced by Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks and Bhushan Kumar’s T Series. The movie will release in theatres on May 27, 2022.
