Bollywood actor and screenwriter, Shiv Subramaniam, passes away

Bollywood character actor and noted screenwriter, Shiv Subramaniam passed away on Sunday night. The cause of his death is as yet unknown.

This shocking news is all the more tragic as only two months ago the actor lost his 16-year-old son, who succumbed due to a brain tumor.

Shiv Subramaniam is survived by his wife, Divya Jagdale, who is also an actor. The couple have starred together in the Amol Gupte movie, ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’.

Shiv Subramaniam’s funeral will reportedly take place today, Monday, April 11.

Filmmaker Ashok Pandit, took to his twitter to mourn the loss of the actor. He tweeted, “Extremely shocked and pained to know about the tragic demise of our dear friend, a great actor and a brilliant human being Shiv Subramaniam. My heartfelt condolences to his wife Divya. May God give you enough energy to face this tragedy.”

For the unversed, Shiv Subramaniam is a noted screenwriter and has penned the screenplay for movies like ‘Parinda’, ‘Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi’, ‘1942 A Love Story’, ‘Chameli’ and ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’.

He has even won Filmfare awards for best screenplay for ‘Parinda’ and best story for ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’.

He also worked as an actor and has played many character roles in several movies like ‘DrohKaal’, ‘2 States’, ‘Bombay Boys’, ‘Hichki’, ‘Teen Patti’, ‘Snip’, ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’, ‘Happy Journey’, and ‘Nail Polish’.

He also worked on TV shows like ‘24’, ‘Mukti Bandhan’ and ‘Laakhon Mein Ek’.

He last starred in the Netflix movie ‘Meenakshi Sundareshwar’ which also starred Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani.
