The City of Brampton has started issuing marriage licences by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays. Previously, marriage licences were being issued on an urgent or compassionate basis only.
To obtain a marriage licence, residents must complete the following steps:
- Complete the marriage licence application, print it off, and ensure both applicants sign the application (digital signatures are not accepted). Only one applicant can attend the appointment.
- Bring the completed and signed marriage licence application, along with all required identification and divorce documents (if applicable), to the scheduled appointment.
Residents can visit the city’s website for all requirements. A marriage licence cannot be issued if any required documentation is missing. Information is available in multiple languages.
Limited appointments are available at this time and no walk-ins. Civil marriage ceremonies remain cancelled.
Residents are reminded that they are required to wear a non-medical mask or face covering when visiting City Hall, as is mandatory in all indoor public spaces in Brampton.
Visit www.brampton.ca for more information and to book an appointment.
