Amritpal Singh, 23, a Brampton man has been charged after a multi-vehicle collision at a RIDE check in Guelph.
Ontario Provincial Police said officers from Wellington County were conducting a RIDE check on the Hanlon Expressway, near College Avenue in Guelph, on July 7.
Officers saw an SUV driving southbound enter the RIDE checkpoint while speeding, according to police reports, the SUV crashed into a car stopped at the checkpoint, forcing that vehicle forward into another car in front of it.
Police said the driver of the SUV was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and given a breath test, which he failed. The driver was arrested and taken to a local OPP station for further testing.
Singh is charged with impaired operation of a vehicle and over 80 plus (80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood).
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days, according to the OPP. Singh will appear in Guelph Court on August 9 to answer to his charges. -CINEWS
