Hollywood actor Brett Goldstein recently shared how he kept his brief cameo in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ a surprise even from his own family.
Spoiler alert: In the recently released Marvel superhero epic of the Asgardian God, Brett Goldstein makes a small surprise cameo as Hercules, son of Russell Crowe’s Zeus and this scene is shown in the mid-credits of ‘Thor 4’.
Recently at an event for his digital series ‘Ted Lasso’, Goldstein joked, “I didn’t tell anyone because Marvel put a chip in my neck that said, ‘If you talk about this, you’re dead.”
The 42-year-old British actor further shared, “My mom and dad, I sent them a text and said, ‘I’ve just seen Thor.’ I knew it’s not the kind of film they’d see. I said, ‘You should go see it. It’s funny.”
He then added that his mother kept texting him “all the way through the film” as she was seeing it and giving him a running commentary.
He then said, “It gets to the end bit, where it shows Russell Crowe. … My mom texts me ‘Russell Crowe’s in it again, he’s very funny.’ I go, ‘F—ing look up at the screen!’ “
In a statement, the actor asserted that he was not “lying or being coy” when he said that he knows “nothing” about the future of his character in the upcoming potential MCU movies. Goldstein said, “All I know is what I did that day and that’s it. That could be it. It was a fun three seconds.”
In the movie, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor bests Crowe’s Zeus who is then seen in the mid credit scene angry at Thor and so he asks his son Hercules (Goldstein) to lead the charge of his revenge.
Apparently, Goldstein’s parents weren’t the only ones in the dark. His ‘Ted Lasso’ co-star and good friend, Hannah Waddingham said, “He said to me, ‘I’ve been offered this thing … do you guys think I should do it?’ I went, ‘Are you mental? Are you actually having a little bit of a moment? You’re seriously thinking that you might not play Hercules?’ “
She added, “Then he didn’t tell me he bloody did it! So, everyone was like ‘Brett Goldstein! Brett Goldstein!’ And I was like, ‘You cheeky bastard.’ “
