Hollywood actor Celeste O’ Connor who was starred in ‘Ghostbuster: Afterlife’ has been roped in to be a part of the Sony Universe’s Marvel characters in the upcoming movie, ‘Madame Web’.
As yet, it is not clear as to what role O’ Connor will be playing. She will however be sharing screen space with Dakota Johnson who is playing the titular role in the comic-book adventure. They are also joined by Sydney Sweeney, best known for her role in ‘Euphoria’.
‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ will in fact serve as the origin story for the upcoming ‘Madame Web’, which is about a clairvoyant person who has psychic abilities that allow her to see inside the spider world.
In the Marvel comic world, ‘Madame Web’ is an old paralysed woman who suffers from myasthenia gravis, which is an auto-immune disorder which requires that she stay connected to a life support system that looks a lot like a spider web.
Her supernatural abilities in the comics prove to be of great service to her fellow allies, Spider-Man and Spider-Woman, but in the comics given her condition, she never battles any villains herself.
S.J. Clarkson will be directing ‘Madame Web’. This movie will be Sony’s first modern live-action comic book adaptation that features the woman as the main lead.
This is one of the many Spider-Man spin-offs planned by Sony Pictures. Another Spider-Man spinoff in the works is ‘Kraven the Hunter’ which stars Ariana DeBose and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
