Ekta Kapoor’s reality show ‘Lock Upp’ hosted by Kangana Ranaut has made waves all over since its launch.

Each episode of the show gets more controversial than the previous one and the reality show quickly climbed to the Top of the charts. Now with only a few days to go before its finale a Hyderabad court has ordered a stay on the series. As per the court order, AltBalaji (Ekta Kapoor’s OTT platform), MX player as well as Endemol Shine have been prohibited from showing the series on any electronic medium, which includes social media, OTT platforms and every other electronic medium.

The stay order was passed by XI Additional Chief Judge of the Hyderabad Civil Court in response to the petition filed by Sanober Baig aka Abdul Haleem Baig who claimed that the show is based on a concept from his own script which is titled, ‘The Jail’.

The court conducted a trial and checked the documents of the petitioner and arrived at the verdict that Baig does indeed seems to be the sole owner of the script and story concept of ‘The Jail’.

This is not the first time that Baig has taken the legal recourse. In February 2022, the Telangana High Court had set aside the ad-interim injunction granted by a trail court against the release, streaming and publishing of the ‘Lock Upp’ series.

Despite this ruling, the petitioner continued to insist that the concept was owned by Prime Media and he was the proprietor registered on March 7, 2018, under the copyright act.
