COVID-19 investigations could impact Brampton Transit service

Brampton Transit officials want the public to know that service could be impacted today (March 9) due to an active Peel Public Health COVID-19 community investigation.

“To help protect the health and safety of employees and the community, Peel Public Health has directed transit operators be tested for COVID-19 and that medical grade masks be mandatory for transit operators,” spokesperson Natalie Stodgill said in a media statement.

Brampton Transit provided employees on-site testing for COVID-19 at its facilities. In some cases, employees may be required to self-isolate, which may affect Brampton Transit’s level of service. All efforts will be made to provide the best possible service under the current circumstances,” she added.

Those who are riding buses are urged to continue following public health recommendations, including staying home if they are a close contact or have symptoms, wearing a tight fitting mask in public spaces and avoiding lowering their masks for eating or drinking while commuting unless it is a medical emergency.
