Despite ‘Dhaakad’ debacle, Kangana Ranaut back to work

Kangana Ranaut’s last release ‘Dhaakad’ was much touted as a high on action spy thriller. The movie was mounted on a large scale and was said to contain some never seen before action along with some interesting avatars of Kangana.

Had it succeeded, ‘Dhaakad’ would have paved the way for female centred action thriller, a genre that completely lacks quality content and zero representation at the moment.

However, ‘Dhaakad’ received a very poor opening, so much so that even trade analysts and movie distributors were shocked at how poorly the movie performed. Starting from day one, there were shows which had zero audience. By Sunday itself, many theatres stopped several shows and instead replaced ‘Dhaakad’ showing with ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’, which seemed to be the popular choice among movie goers.

However, it seems like Kangana is a ‘dust it off and move on” mode as despite failing to impress moviegoers with ‘Dhaakad’, the ‘Queen’ actress is back to work and has started prepping for her next movie, called, ‘Emergency’.

As per reports, she will be directing as well as starring in this movie. ‘Emergency’ marks Kangana’s second directorial venture, her first being ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’

Kangana took to her Instagram to share some pictures from Delhi where she is currently doing a recce with her crew.

In one of the pics, she wrote, ‘Rekee day one… don’t mess with me is my resting pose.’ In another picture she wrote, ‘Of all the roles I play I am most comfortable in being a film maker. #Emergency.’

The actress looked fresh, simple and casual in a white salwar suit with a green dupatta. It was clear that Kangana was aiming for comfortably stylish with her choice of outfit.

She had announced ‘Emergency’ in 2021 itself on her social media. At the time she wrote, “Pleased to wear director’s hat again, after working on Emergency for more than a year I finally figured no one can direct it better than me. Collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments, I am determined to do it, my excitement is high. This is going to be a tremendous journey, my leap to another league #Emergency #Indira.’”

Besides this, Kangana will also be seen in ‘Tejas’ and she has also been cast in ‘Sita: The Incarnation’.
