Elderly man who intentionally struck 3 family members with vehicle in North York facing murder charges

A 79-year-old man who intentionally struck three people in an apartment building parking lot in North York has been charged with murder.

Police said on Wednesday, November 15 at around 12:40 p.m., officers responded to a call for Personal Injury Collision in the Victoria Park Avenue and Cassandra Boulevard area.

It is alleged that three individuals were intentionally struck with a vehicle driven by the accused. All three victims were transported to hospital where one person was pronounced deceased. The other two victims have non-life-threatening injuries.

The deceased has been identified as a 61-year-old woman of Toronto.

Ciro Garofano, 79, of Toronto, was arrested at the scene and charged with First Degree Murder as well as two counts of Attempted Murder.

Police later confirmed Wednesday evening that Garofano was a family member of the three victims.
