Estelle Harris, the actress who played Mrs. Costanza on Seinfeld dies at 93.

Actress Estelle Harris who was best known for playing the role of George’s nagging mother on the hit TV sitcom Seinfeld passed away on April 2, 2022. She was 93 years old.

Her son Glen Harris told Deadline that his mother died of natural causes at her home in California. He also said she was going to turn 94 in a few days.

In his statement to the portal, Glen Harris said, “It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on this evening at 6:25pm. Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humour, empathy and love were practically unrivalled, and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her.”

Harris was a late bloomer in the industry making her screen debut with a small role in ‘Looking Up’ in the year 1977. She was nearly 50 years old then. Since then, she did small roles in several projects until she got the role of Estelle Costanza in the fourth season of Seinfeld, a role which made her career. Actor Jason Alexander, who played her son George on the show, tweeted a tribute for his on-screen mother and wrote, “One of my favourite people has passed – my tv mama, Estelle Harris. The joy of playing with her and relishing her glorious laughter was a treat. I adore you, Estelle. Love to your family. Serenity now and always.”

Her other credits include the voice over for Mrs. Potato Head in the Toy Story franchise. She has appeared in small roles in several movies and shows including, ‘Out To Sea’, ‘The Odd Couple II’, ‘This Is My Life’ and ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’.

Estelle Harris is survived by her three children, three grandsons as well as one great grandson.
