Fines laid after Mississauga protests

Region of Peel – Investigators from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have issued fines against a participant and an organizer after they allegedly were involved in a large and organized gathering in Mississauga.

On May 13, a group opposing the Provincial regulations gathered at a park in the area of Dundas Street West and Mississauga Road in Mississauga. Police said, numerous people were in attendance, including some that were not complying with rules in regards to gatherings.

As a result, a 22-year-old man from Mississauga and a 49-year-old man from Toronto, were charged with Failing to Comply With an Order Given During a Declared Emergency.

Under current COVID-19 restrictions from the Province of Ontario, Peel Region remains under a stay-at-home order. All gatherings, rallies, protests, and peaceful assembly must follow existing Provincial regulations and city by-laws. Tickets may be issued to individuals or organizers who do not comply with this order.
