At least four people were killed after a car and a pickup van were hit by an oil tanker near Sidhrawali village in Gurugram on the Delhi-Jaipur expressway, police said.
The incident occurred late Friday night when the oil tanker coming from Jaipur broke the divider and hit the car from the front after which CNG cylinders inside it caught fire leading to the death of three people.
After hitting the car, the oil tanker also crashed with a pickup van on the highway. The driver of the van died on the spot, due to the crash, the police added.
“After getting information of the incident, a police team from Bilaspur Police Station reached the spot. The team found that a car was gutted due to fire, and three people were killed,” Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar told IANS.
He said the car occupants were probably on the way to Jaipur. The pick-up van driver also lost his life.
“The accused oil tanker driver fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind. The car was registered with the Panipat registration authority while the pickup van was registered in the Rewari district. The absconding accused driver will be nabbed soon,” Kumar said.
