Gaten Matarazzo who is well known amongst ‘Stranger Things’ fans as Dustin Henderson has recently announced that he will be making a comeback to Broadway the coming summer with the Tony award winning ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ production.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the 19-year-old actor will make his way back to the stage playing the role of Jared Kleinman, a somewhat inappropriate and sarcastic friend of the lead character Evan Hansen. The production kicks off on July 19.
Matarazzo’s previous stage productions include his 2011 Broadway debut, ‘Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’, the 2013 production, ‘Godspell’ and his last one was the 2014 revival of the popular production ‘Les Misérables’.
Matarazzo issued a statement about his upcoming theatre production and said, Words could never express how truly honored I am to be a part of this company. This show has taught me so much about myself and to be able to participate in any capacity, let alone on Broadway, makes me want to melt. I am ecstatic to be back on stage and eternally grateful for the opportunity.”
The current lot of Dear Evan Hansen includes Zachary Noah Piser, Jessica Phillips, Talia Simone Robinson, David Jeffery, Christiane Noll, Jared Goldsmith, Manoel Felciano, Phoebe Koyabe, Nathan Levy, Linedy Genao, Dan Macke, D’Kaylah Unique Whitley, Jane Pfitsch, Asa Somers, Nicole Van Giesen and Josh Strobl.
The lead in the production has been played Zachary Noah Piser, who happens to be the first Asian American ever to portray the character of Evan Hansen. Besides his Broadway return, Matarazzo is also all geared up for the fourth season of Stranger Things, which will be released its first set of episodes this coming Friday, May 27, only on Netflix.
