Actor and academy award winner, William Hurt, passed away on March 13, 2022. His son, shared the news in a statement from the family. He said, “It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father, and Oscar-winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes. The family requests privacy at this time.”

William Hurt not only worked in over 50 movies in a career spanning over 40 years, but he has also won an Academy Award for one. Not only has William Hurt won the Academy Award for Best Actor, but in the 80s he was also nominated three times, that too for three consecutive years. It started with his nomination for ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’, this was followed with his nomination in 1986 for ‘Children of a Lesser God and finally he was nominated in 1987 for ‘Broadcast’. Later on his life, he received a fourth nomination for David Cronenberg’s film noir ‘A history of violence’. He was nominated for best actor in a supporting role.
