Men tend to have more lean mass as compared to women and women usually have more fat mass when compared to men. Men tend to accumulate adipose tissues around their trunk and abdomen area whereas among women this tissue tends accumulate around the thighs and hips.
Having lower testosterone makes it tougher to lose weight. Women have less testosterone than men which makes it harder for them to lose weight.
Hormones in the body take care of so many important functions which also include mass muscle maintenance, coping with hunger and stress and losing body fat. Women tend to have a lot more hormonal fluctuations than men which can cause hormonal imbalance which in turn can make it very difficult to lose weight.
Also, women tend to look on fat in a negative light and nutritionists want to bust the myth that fat means unhealthy. According to them, women do have more fat stores than men but this is how they are built and it does not mean that they automatically fatter than men. Even a perfectly healthy and perfectly proportioned woman could have 6 to 11 percent more body fat when compared to a man.
