Holiday RIDE program nets large number of impaired drivers

In the first two weeks of the holiday RIDE program alone, police have laid charges on 23 impaired drivers and have checked out almost 10,000 vehicles in Peel Region.

In addition to the charges laid on the 23 drivers, another 67 drivers have had their licences suspended for being in the warn range. Officers are on the lookout for people driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs — including cannabis.

Driving while under the influence will almost always end up with a 90-day suspension of the driver’s licence, and a seven-day impoundment of the vehicle. This is certainly not worth that extra drink or that cannabis hit. -CINEWS
