‘Jersey’ cleared by CBFC with U/A certification

Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Jersey’ will hit the big screens of April 14, 2022. On January 7, the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) passed the movie for release with U/A certification. As per the CBFC report, the movie has a run time of 2 hours and 50 minutes (17 minutes).

As of now, the advance booking for the movie will open on the coming Sunday or Monday – April 10 or 11.

Jersey’ is releasing in India on a festive weekend as people across the country celebrate various festivals like Vishu, Baisakhi, Mahavir Jayanti, Easter and Ambedkar Jayanti. It is also a long weekend in several places of the country.

Generally, it is good news for movies when they release on a long weekend as it generates better revenues. However, ‘Jersey’ is releasing on the same weekend as the highly anticipated ‘KGF – Chapter 2’. It also has to contend with South star Vijay’s movie ‘Beast’, which is releasing on April 13.

The good thing for movie goers is that they have 3 movies from different genres to choose during that weekend.

‘Jersey’ is the official Hindi remake of the National Award winning Telugu movie of the same name, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri starring Telugu actor Nani.

The movie is the journey of an ex-cricketer who is working hard to make ends meet but wants to fulfil his son’s wish of getting the team Jersey. In the process of doing so, he confronts the glory days of the past and comes face to face with his demons – will he defeat them and become the hero his son believes he is or will be remain the loser the rest of the world thinks he has become?

The movie has been produced by S. Naga, Aman Gill and Dil Raju with music by Sachet and Parmpara. The director for the Hindi version of ‘Jersey’ is the same as the Telugu one – Gowtam Tinnanuri.

‘Jersey’ will release in cinemas on April 14, 2022.
