The Breast Cancer Society’s annual 5K, Mother’s Day Walk will take place in 10 cities across Canada this May to raise money for breast cancer research.
Join Kim MacDonald, breast cancer survivor and The Weather Network anchor on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Streetsville Memorial Park, 335 Church Street, Mississauga as we walk with our families, friends, colleagues and corporate teams to raise money to fund life-saving breast cancer research.
Although advancements have been made, breast cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women, with 26,300 new cases in Canada this year. One in 8 women is likely to develop breast cancer in her lifetime (Government of Canada, Canadian Cancer Statistics, 2018).
“Through research we have learned every breast cancer patient is different and a one-size fits all approach to treatment doesn’t work,” said Kimberly Carson, Breast Cancer Society of Canada CEO.
“We have a 5-year plan to implement personalized medicine for breast cancer patients. Through our work and the support of our donors, patients will have the opportunity to enroll in cutting-edge clinical trials which will lead to the development of new targeted therapies – an extraordinary advancement,” Carson added.
Cleo, a long-time sponsor of the Mother’s Day Walk has raised almost $3M for the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. “We are passionate about supporting breast cancer research, a cause that is dear to many of our customers’ hearts. It is our pleasure to celebrate and participate in Mother’s Day Walk annually,” says Cleo President, Lisa Hryciuk.
