‘Koffee with Karan’ soon on TV for seventh season

Karan Johar’s chat show on Star Network was extremely popular. Big stars, musicians, cricketers and leading celebrities have graced the show for a candid no holds barred gossipy chat.

Karan Johar kept it simple and engaging by not even pretending to be highbrow about it. Unlike Simi Garewal who was the other iconic chat show host a couple of decades ago who hosted elegant, honest but subtle interviews with top stars in her show, ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’, Karan Johar made an irreplaceable space for himself by giving viewers a sneak peek into the unadulterated human flaws and quirks of celebrities.

His ‘Rapid Fire’ round was meant to elicit controversial responses that would become talking points for weeks to come and celebrities developed a love-hate relationship with the show.

Being a part of the show was validation for newbies that they were part of the ‘in’ circle, but being on the show came with its own perils as comments and quips made on the show would become viral memes and fodder for news channels.

In any case, ‘Koffee with Karan’ is a massively popular show and TV audiences will be thrilled that the show is coming back for a new season on the Star Network. The show’s previous season aired in 2019.

As per reports, Karan Johar is currently wrapping up most of his production for his upcoming directorial ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’. He should be done by May and once he completes the schedule for the film, Karan Johar is scheduled to start production for his chat show.

Currently, pre-production for the chat show has already begun and the team is prepping to start shooting for the show from mid-May.

The show is roughly scheduled to go on air on the Star Network and stream on Disney+ Hotstar from June 2022 onwards.

As always viewers can expect that the show will be star studded and the unconfirmed line up of celebrities includes, Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, Neetu Kapoor, Siddharth Malhotra, Anil Kapoor and Kiara Advani among others. It is reported that Rashmika Mandana of ‘Pushpa’ fame will also be sitting on the Koffee couch this season. Rashmika is all set for her Bollywood debut with ‘Mission Manju’.

There is a lot of expectation that newly weds and Karan’s personal favourites Alia Bhat and Ranbir Kapoor will also grace the Koffee couch for the seventh season of the show.

Meanwhile on the work front, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has a busy year ahead with bug releases like ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Jug Jug Jeeyo’, ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ and ‘Liger’ among others. His direction and production project, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ starring Alia Bhat, Ranveer Singh, Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra and Jaya Bachchan is slated to release in theatres on February 10, 2023.
