Man arrested in connection with 2018 Mississauga robbery

Peel police have arrested Avneet Singh, a Hamilton man wanted in connection with a 2018 robbery.

Avneet Singh was wanted for armed robbery in a meetup for an online sale in Mississauga and was featured in the police department’s Wanted Wednesday social media appeal.

Police said a 32-year-old man saw a cellphone for sale online and arranged to meet the seller at a plaza in the area of Derry Road and Tenth Line on Dec. 12, 2018.

Police said a weapon was used to rob the man of the cash he had brought with him. When he opened a cellphone box the seller had left behind, it was empty. The victim was not injured, police said.

Avneet Singh was arrested on the outstanding warrant with assistance from Canada Border Services Agency at Toronto Pearson International Airport, police said. -CINEWS
