Recently Peel Police set up Buy and Sell Exchange Zones at police stations in order to address the safety issue when people meet strangers to sell or buy personal items. The importance of conducting cash transactions at these Exchange Zones was underscored last week when a victim was relieved of his car during a car deal.
The victim met the suspect in the afternoon at a hotel in the area of Airport Road and Coventry Road to discuss the details of purchasing a car. The two settled on a price and agreed to meet later that day at a parking lot in the area of Sunny Meadow Boulevard and Red River Drive.
The two met between 4:30 and 5 p.m. when the suspect pulled a handgun from his waistband and demanded the cash the victim had bought to purchase the vehicle. The victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as male, South Asian, five-foot-ten to 6-feet tall, curly hair, wearing a black sweater with zipper, blue pants and a faded front.
In this case it was just the cash that was stolen, it could have been worse. – CINEWS
